Army and Navy sweets are aromatic black, lozenge shaped boiled sweets, flavoured with liquorice, aniseed and herbs. A traditional sweet for the colder times of year, they have a pleasantly medicinal taste. Are they eaten by soldiers and sailors? We don't know.
